May 2013

The making of the new website is taking way longer than I hoped. Sadly I still only have two arms. :( Blimey!
So far I put ~1.600 pictures into galeries, the new forum is mostly set up and apart from that there's a gigantic heap of work still waiting to be done.

It's still possible that the new website will replace this one in early June. Please don't be shocked when most you see is just crafts and dolls then - as I said I don't have a comic script yet and regarding my other fantasy artwork, I wade through that with a big fork and rather want to draw new pics than to take some of those old eyesores with me.

May 2013

Honestly, I don't know what I've done to deserve this. Ever since I decided in October to start out fresh with my whole life I just get smashed in the face by fate, as if I don't deserve a second chance. For real, I have never faced so much misfortune in a row.

Newest installment in this tragicomedy: Scanners. By now I own three and none of them works decently. The most expensive one doesn't even work at all.
To act from necessity the old HP is plugged in again so I can at least scan a few b/w drawings. Apart from that we can only wait for new Mustek drivers for Ubuntu.

Since the coder refuses to take money from "friends" I have been moved to the very bottom of his jam-packed to-do list and now have to wait until hell freezes over to get answers and/or code because all paying and nastier-than-me peeps come first. Therefore we threw Drupal from the server and switched to Joomla since that at least has a gallery system which my husband modyfied with some hours of work to be bi-lingual and usable for me. A big thanks to the student who gave the tip!
Now I have to start over once again. It peeves me off that without waiting for the coder we could have started in October as planned instead of now. A lot of energy was wasted and actually by now we should be more busy with what will happen next year when my husband's work contract ends. He should be writing job applications instead of working on my stuff and I wouldn't be surprised if I'll have to pack moving boxes again soon....

Anyway, I fight with the new website but there's still heaps of work to do. My husband sacrifices his weekends to code a rudimentary webcomic script. I'm used to not being able to use software out of the box due to my bi-lingual content but that there's no Joomla webcomic script at all was quite unexpected.

I'll keep you updated but I'm afraid things will take time. Such CMS systems are virgin soil for me and I still have to learn a lot and try a lot of options and modules to find what I'm looking for. But if that means that I won't have to make all my thumbnails by hand and code all text formatting and new content by hand directly in the database anymore I'm more than willing to try.

I especially want to say thanks to everyone who buoyed me up in one way or another. You're great, thank you so much!

What saddens me most is that I missed Seekers 10th anniversary now and I had such a big plan for it. I hope you won't be too disappointed by the restart of the website - I plan to do way more than "just" to offer comics. At first it might look like I've abandoned Seekers in favour of other things, but with some patience you'll see it's quite the opposite.

April 2013

I had to buy a new scanner (Canon Lide 210) but it's utter shit for original pencil and ink drawings. Now I'm quite desparate, about the waste of money and about which scanner to try next as well.
We'll buy a Mustek DinA3 scanner by the end of the week. Keep your fingers crossed that that one is better.

At least our legal problem is solved. About the website I have no clue though. The coder doesn't give an estimated date and he doesn't answer at all. I'll clobber him on his birthday party. At least all the spontaneous bugs are solved but most likely I'll have to start over with my articles and texts because I have to switch to a different translation system. But it will work out, eventually.

In a few days I will include the shoutbox again and maybe a few polls so you can post wishes and suggestions.
