Round two of our popular photo show-off thread!

Yesterday I got a Filly catalogue special with 3 special baby Fillies, a supercute book about Fimo jewelery (heavily inspired by Japanese arts), a not-so-cute book about Fimo charms (if you show items made of marbled Fimo don't be an ass and explain how to make marbled Fimo! Cute ideas, lousy explanations. Good thing I have books that fill me in on the missing stuff.), wool with sequins woven in, a new Filly Witchy (yay, not a duplicate!) and a special edition Filly.

The catalogue was a disappointment. First of, the pretty sparkle cover ripped when I took off the baby Fillies, and then it neither contains photos nor complete lists. There are only 5 or 6 special Fillies mentioned, for instance, and I got none of them but easily got more specials than that in 2012! Oh well, the baby Fillies are nice...

One week early but my July order arrived yesterday.
I got one mini doll, Dal Kyubey from Puella Magi Madoka Magica.
And one Pullip, the witch Wilhelmina.

As happens way too often since Groove took over the production of Pullip & co, both dolls require repairs before they can be taken to a photo shoot. The velcro of Kyubey's cat hat broke right away and I have to fix the embroidery and a stain in the backside of one ear. Her wig is awful as well so there goes my plan to let her double as a garden fairy in another costume.
On Wilhelmina everything that could be sewn on aslant has been sewn on aslant, from the bowtie on her dress to the buttons on her corset.

I'm getting tired of Pullips this way and limited down my wishlist to a select few. Most likely I'll start saving for higher quality, more expensive dolls once that list is empty, and just try to sew my own high-quality clothes for the dolls I already have. My doll family is already gigantic, after all.

The only exciting thing I've received recently was a dress for a costume.
Yup. A dress. it's what people refer to as 'a little black dress', although to me it's a bit more like office wear. *shrugs* Whatever. Might be a photo of it in another thread sometime in the next couple of weeks. =D
Up there just me and my shadow, no bass, no guitar, no tambourine. Then I found you like a melody, you were singin' in the same key as me. <3

The Pinkie Pie plushie is so cute! (and the dress is swell too!) I always fight with me when I see the cute Filly Witchy plushies but so far I've been strong!

I got lots of new dolls.

- a new series called "Novi Stars" (originating from the UK if I'm not mistaken). Una has glitter in her water-filled legs so she can be used as a snowglobe and it looks so cute. Her antennas are removable and she has real shiny eyes and real lashes. Her stand looks like a planet and glows in the dark. I wanted to buy two more of these dolls today but hurt my leg so I can't walk. :( The others are a green one with glowing legs and a pink robot one that can talk. They are quite small and not expensive so I thought these 3 would make a nice addition to my collection. Variety is always nice and these are the first cute aliens I've ever seen. ^^

- several new Monster High dolls, including this "13 Wishes" version of Clawdeen with golden lipstick and Arabian Nights outfit.

- 2 Bratzillas when Toys'R Us kicked them out for 10 Euro a piece (prev. 22). I also got two small accessoire packs. The hats, handbags and capes in those aren't worth mentioning but I wanted them for the extra shoes. Sadly my fav acc pack and the only dress pack I like weren't available anymore. They have cheap nylon hair (as the Novis, sadly, same company) and are not as well made as I thought they'd be (I recommended them for girls that are too small for Monster High) but for that price they're still nice dolls, especially their acrylic eyes.

- Dal Edge (catalogue piccie) used from Spain (or Italy? I prolly forgot but it saved me 50 Euro!). Sadly her foot is broken and refuses to slip into the boot. So I must either get a matching used Dal body (hard), fix the foot (even harder) or find new boots that match her outfit well and give her an Obitsu body (hard to find boots, easy to get Obitsu body - but those have much thicker legs, to my dismay, so the original boots wouldn't fit).
Since one of the Taeyangs I wanted (because he had JUST THE FACE of Eloya) turned out to be sold out for good my Pullip family wishlist is now down to 5 dolls. Yay!

I also got lots of new fabrics like fake leather, fake snake leather, tons of fabrics with strawberries that were on sale, the first 5 seasons of the "Bones" tv series (with my hubbie!), some comics and tomorrow I'll get a French book about bead trees that I'll have to translate by typing it all into Google translate.

And the pharmacy gave me a pedometer for free when I asked to buy one. I guess we bought enough meds there lately, they almost know our names already... Now I can count my steps too. ^^

SO MANY DOLLS!

I was in Southampton yesterday seeing my friend Paul (And giving him his birthday presents), and almost passed out when we walked into Fabric Land. And then Forbidden Planet. In total I spent just over £12 in both, to be honest, I could have spent more on fabrics, but settled on just half a metre each of two.

Also, look at that face. Is that not the face of a very happy 36 year old who's just been given two hand made character plushies, a dinosaur plushie (With lead) and a dinosaur colouring book and crayons (From Vicky)? I think it is. =)

One day fabric stores will be the death of me! I swear, I have 6-7 moving boxes and more of fabrics for my dolls by now (okay, two of them are old clothes of ours, but still...)
The one with the owls is soooo cute - luckily the pattern's too big for my purposes, else I would have been jealous now. ^^

Alrightie, usually granny Eph doesn't post piccies of clothes but now that we have to change our lives so drastically old me is rapidly changing in style. In the last 25 days I lost 7 pounds already, and some new clothes were in order. Some are still a bit tight but they'll fit in a few pounds and they are a great incentive to spend more time with my exercise.
So today I'll show you what I got this month.

First of, my Hogwarts uniform. Authentic Gryffindor tie and cardigan, the blouse and skirt are from Kaufhof. If I loose more weight I'll also get the Gryffindor sweater and slipover later and I might exchange the skirt one day as it's quite old-fashioned - but the Hogwarts girls wore very conservative skirts, at least in the old movies. Plus, it wasn't expensive so I won't be so sad if it becomes too big over time.

Secondly, my brandnew medieval gown! Actually I'm 10 pounds too heavy for it - Patrick promised to get it for me once I reach my old weight. But it was the last one, I couldn't get it out of my head and it's only a bit small around the shoulders and chest. It is MUUUUUCH too long though, I hope I can get it shortened myself. They let me wear the highest platform high heels in the store (and it was a punk store!) and it was still a bit too long for tiny me. ^^
It's a lovely shade of green and made of velvet. The thing over the shoulder is actually the belt, of course.

Last but not least, new shoes! I wore 10E shoes for the last five years and they always hurt me. Blisters, swollen ankles, hurting knees... the full program. When they even got me a 2 inch blood-filled blister two days ago I decided they finally had to go. 250 Euro later and I got three pair of shoes... I never spent so much on shoes ever before but I hope it was worth it. The ones on the left are for everyday so the most important thing was that they're comfortable. And they are! Those in the middle are for autumn and early winter, since the winter boots from last year are in the trashbin already (the first pair broke after wearing them 12 times, the other pair cut so deeply into my heel that it bled for two weeks and left a scar! That's the main reason why I gave more expensive shoes a chance this time - my husband always did horribly with his cheap shoes too.). I love these shoes to bits! And on the right, those are Mary Janes, or am I mistaken? I always wanted such shoes and when I saw them on the way to the cash register with the medieval gown I just couldn't pass on.
Now they just have to prove that they can last for 2-4 years each.

Have a photo of todays haul!
Really useful boxes 2 for 3 @£2.79 each
Scalpel blades £4
Owls (for mum) £2
Roses £1.50
Book £5
Scissors £1.50
Paper stack 99p
Wood £7.70(something)
The wood was half price as the shop's closing down. It's balsa for my Beatrix sword. Only think is, I just discovered I need a fourth length to make up the thickness of the blade... They only had the three. =(

He he he. ^^

Patrick made a mistake and showed me a wool shop yesterday that he found a week ago. Quite an expensive mistake, muhawhaw!

They had tons of pretty wool but I decided on these adorable skeins of silk wool and a slightly different one that looks a bit like leather. I will not use these for amigurumi but look up how to make pullovers and such and make doll clothes from them. I don't think they would endure the tight stuffing of an ami and they are so fine and thin that they won't look as clunky on a doll as most others do.

It's kind of my reward to myself for reaching 90kg in my training. That's roughly 15 pounds gone.

Apart from that I got some Monster High dolls and a MH bathroom set lately but I don't think I need to post that here. They'll end up in the galleries one day anyway for those who really want to see.
Also got some simple, strong cotton to make a new shopping bag with long handles.

Some of this stuff's new! The big Fluttershy was a present from my sister for getting the job, there are some new blind bag ponies, all the green monster (Om Nom) models are new, and so are the Micro Moshlings (Tiny things to the left (as you're looking) of the picture).

Aaaand... MY UNIFORM! Or at leasat part of it. I wasn't given a hat or the apron I was told I'd get, but here's the jacket and trousers at any rate!

*proud*

Here's a selection of the things I got lately.

First of, an album of Gütermann thread and an additional pack of embroidery thread which has 3 multi-coloured spools. Next photo shows the inside of the album! All colours are useful and so far I always found a matching thread and didn't have to buy more. Best of all, in this album the thread cost only 50% of the regular individual price!

Also the books I got today. "The Artful Bird" was the one most dear to me but it will be returned to Amazon now. It's the third time they took out one book from a large order and sent it single, and the third time it arrived damaged then. I already own two damaged books in fleamarket quality with broken spines and folds in the cover, I won't keep a third one.
We went to the city and ordered the book from a local bookstore, so in about 10-12 days I will get a flawless copy of the book.
Uhm, the first one is about sewing kawaii pillows, the second one has charming retro doll and toy patterns inside (including an elephante plushie that's to die for!) and it has extremely good instructions for making complicated wool hairdos, "The Artful Bird" is a wonderful book on sewing birds of all kinds and how to make them shine with the right display and the last one is a German book on sewing plushies with 22 patterns that come from such a wide range that I should be able to make up patterns of my own afterwards.

I also ordered a book on making teddy bears which will arrive tomorrow, apricot-coloured pipecleaner to stuff into doll hands, freezer paper since everyone recommends it to make sewing patterns from it (that stuff is totally unknown in Germany!) and metal foil for FIMO projects.
Also bought tons of new fabrics, a book on Kanzashi cloth flowers, a very old book on plush dolls which wasn't that satisfactory (although the animal heads are all lovely! But the bodies aren't) and some craft materials.

A little while ago I recieved even more craft books and of course I got the new sewing machine for my birthday in January and since then I heavily stocked up on fabrics, ribbons, lace, thread, needles, felt, padding, storing boxes and more, since sewing is now actually fun!

For the last month or so I found out that I love radio dramas and bought ~4 days worth of episodes from Anne of Green Gables, one horror series and the Three Investigators (Jupiter Jones and his friends). Also got MP3 conversions of our Masters of the Universe and Princess of Power tapes that my brother and me still own from our childhood. So I have a pretty large collection now even though there's still a ton of horror episodes to buy. ^o^

In December I got new software for my art, which was very exciting after over 10 years and yesterday I ordered a DinA3 DinA4 Wacom art tablet!

Well, that were about all important buys of the last few months. Sorry about the long post!
Also got a Monster High doll here and there and some doll shoes (mostly for male dolls), but not many. Currently sewing and drawing have the spotlight. Did not buy any videogame, only one David Garrett cd and a handful of movies! Err, but also some series of Re-ment. Gah, I'm a buyaholic!

Wow, thanks for that link! I had read about the copy paper packaging as a substitute but that's some crazy stuff there. ^^ I'm happy with the 12 metres of Freezer Paper I got from Amazon but it's good to know I could make an emergency piece.

I got a wonderful piece of very expensive faux fur that I wanted to make a bear for myself from but now I'm not sure if that will look right. But that piece was always winking at me when I crossed the bin with waste fabric at the store and I couldn't refuse any longer. :-[ If all else fails it will become a wonderful fur jacket one day, when I own a really big doll.

Also got more audio dramas from the Gruselkabinett series.

No worries about that, I always find a use for all that fabric I own. ;D
(Which is hard to believe when looking at the ~7 moving boxes full of fabric I own... I think all sewers are hoarders though, so I'm not alone.)

Anyway, for the English folks here's a comparison piccie of my old and my new graphics tablet too.
It's almost wonderful - but too soft, even my first sheepish try at a colour artwork left marks. So I ordered display protection foils which should arrive in 1-2 days. Then I can finally exercise my drawing with this neat thingie! (And hubbie can properly see about getting the function keys to do my bidding!)

Nothing to show, but I got new mp3 albums. :)

Apart from almost all episodes of the Gruselkabinett ("horror cabinet") audio dramas (*) I got one album each of the following bands the following today:

- Faun (Pagan medieval folk, actually got 2 albums from them!)
- Subway to Sally (medieval rock)
- Oomph! (Neue Deutsche Härte, which as a genre isn't translatable. Closest is probably to call them Alternative Goth Rock)
- Schandmaul (Folk Rock with some medieval influences, got 2 albums by them too although I'm not quite so sure about the voice of the lead singer!)

I figured since I find myself listening to nothing else than Subway to Sally, Oomph!, Evanescence and HIM lately (apart from "Imagine" by John Lennon, which is the best song in the world, "Tribute" by Tenacious D and everything by David Garrett) I should better stock up a bit.
There is so, sooo much music I love, but in the end I always come back to German Alternative bands.
And since I have a really bad tinnitus (not a single silent second in about 4 weeks straight and most of the time I hear 3 different noises at once!) I listen to a LOT of music lately since else I'd go crazy. The noise is even louder than tv. You barely see me without headphones. If it doesn't get better with the things I do now (valerian all day and a special health pillow at night because my neck and back hurt like hell too) I'll have to see a doctor about it soon.

(* They rised steeply in prize so I quickly bought all that were available for the old price. Gruselkabinett is a highly acclaimed German series which covers stories of Gothic Romanticism like Poe, Lovecraft, Stoker, Robert E. Howard and even Jane Austin.)

MP3 got really expensive a few weeks ago, as did cds. Next up I'm lurking for special prices for the last Evanescence album that's still missing in my collection and more HIM, Oomph!, Faun, Subway to Sally, Nightwish (but only with Tarja) and Eisbrecher.
