He he he. ^^

Patrick made a mistake and showed me a wool shop yesterday that he found a week ago. Quite an expensive mistake, muhawhaw!

They had tons of pretty wool but I decided on these adorable skeins of silk wool and a slightly different one that looks a bit like leather. I will not use these for amigurumi but look up how to make pullovers and such and make doll clothes from them. I don't think they would endure the tight stuffing of an ami and they are so fine and thin that they won't look as clunky on a doll as most others do.

It's kind of my reward to myself for reaching 90kg in my training. That's roughly 15 pounds gone.

Apart from that I got some Monster High dolls and a MH bathroom set lately but I don't think I need to post that here. They'll end up in the galleries one day anyway for those who really want to see.
Also got some simple, strong cotton to make a new shopping bag with long handles.

So it's not something physical, but I got my rota for induction and training for my new job!
Mon off
Tues - central induction (9am)
Wed - Off
Thur - 6am - 12
Fri - 1pm - 7pm
Sat - off
Sun - 6-3

6am starts I am NOT looking forward to! XD
It's kitchen staff in a chain of pubs here in the UK. I'm excited AND terrified.
Up there just me and my shadow, no bass, no guitar, no tambourine. Then I found you like a melody, you were singin' in the same key as me. <3

Some of this stuff's new! The big Fluttershy was a present from my sister for getting the job, there are some new blind bag ponies, all the green monster (Om Nom) models are new, and so are the Micro Moshlings (Tiny things to the left (as you're looking) of the picture).

Aaaand... MY UNIFORM! Or at leasat part of it. I wasn't given a hat or the apron I was told I'd get, but here's the jacket and trousers at any rate!

*proud*

Here's a selection of the things I got lately.

First of, an album of Gütermann thread and an additional pack of embroidery thread which has 3 multi-coloured spools. Next photo shows the inside of the album! All colours are useful and so far I always found a matching thread and didn't have to buy more. Best of all, in this album the thread cost only 50% of the regular individual price!

Also the books I got today. "The Artful Bird" was the one most dear to me but it will be returned to Amazon now. It's the third time they took out one book from a large order and sent it single, and the third time it arrived damaged then. I already own two damaged books in fleamarket quality with broken spines and folds in the cover, I won't keep a third one.
We went to the city and ordered the book from a local bookstore, so in about 10-12 days I will get a flawless copy of the book.
Uhm, the first one is about sewing kawaii pillows, the second one has charming retro doll and toy patterns inside (including an elephante plushie that's to die for!) and it has extremely good instructions for making complicated wool hairdos, "The Artful Bird" is a wonderful book on sewing birds of all kinds and how to make them shine with the right display and the last one is a German book on sewing plushies with 22 patterns that come from such a wide range that I should be able to make up patterns of my own afterwards.

I also ordered a book on making teddy bears which will arrive tomorrow, apricot-coloured pipecleaner to stuff into doll hands, freezer paper since everyone recommends it to make sewing patterns from it (that stuff is totally unknown in Germany!) and metal foil for FIMO projects.
Also bought tons of new fabrics, a book on Kanzashi cloth flowers, a very old book on plush dolls which wasn't that satisfactory (although the animal heads are all lovely! But the bodies aren't) and some craft materials.

A little while ago I recieved even more craft books and of course I got the new sewing machine for my birthday in January and since then I heavily stocked up on fabrics, ribbons, lace, thread, needles, felt, padding, storing boxes and more, since sewing is now actually fun!

For the last month or so I found out that I love radio dramas and bought ~4 days worth of episodes from Anne of Green Gables, one horror series and the Three Investigators (Jupiter Jones and his friends). Also got MP3 conversions of our Masters of the Universe and Princess of Power tapes that my brother and me still own from our childhood. So I have a pretty large collection now even though there's still a ton of horror episodes to buy. ^o^

In December I got new software for my art, which was very exciting after over 10 years and yesterday I ordered a DinA3 DinA4 Wacom art tablet!

Well, that were about all important buys of the last few months. Sorry about the long post!
Also got a Monster High doll here and there and some doll shoes (mostly for male dolls), but not many. Currently sewing and drawing have the spotlight. Did not buy any videogame, only one David Garrett cd and a handful of movies! Err, but also some series of Re-ment. Gah, I'm a buyaholic!

Wow, thanks for that link! I had read about the copy paper packaging as a substitute but that's some crazy stuff there. ^^ I'm happy with the 12 metres of Freezer Paper I got from Amazon but it's good to know I could make an emergency piece.

I got a wonderful piece of very expensive faux fur that I wanted to make a bear for myself from but now I'm not sure if that will look right. But that piece was always winking at me when I crossed the bin with waste fabric at the store and I couldn't refuse any longer. :-[ If all else fails it will become a wonderful fur jacket one day, when I own a really big doll.

Also got more audio dramas from the Gruselkabinett series.

I hope you can make something nice out of that faux fur...

No worries about that, I always find a use for all that fabric I own. ;D
(Which is hard to believe when looking at the ~7 moving boxes full of fabric I own... I think all sewers are hoarders though, so I'm not alone.)

Anyway, for the English folks here's a comparison piccie of my old and my new graphics tablet too.
It's almost wonderful - but too soft, even my first sheepish try at a colour artwork left marks. So I ordered display protection foils which should arrive in 1-2 days. Then I can finally exercise my drawing with this neat thingie! (And hubbie can properly see about getting the function keys to do my bidding!)

Nothing to show, but I got new mp3 albums. :)

Apart from almost all episodes of the Gruselkabinett ("horror cabinet") audio dramas (*) I got one album each of the following bands the following today:

- Faun (Pagan medieval folk, actually got 2 albums from them!)
- Subway to Sally (medieval rock)
- Oomph! (Neue Deutsche Härte, which as a genre isn't translatable. Closest is probably to call them Alternative Goth Rock)
- Schandmaul (Folk Rock with some medieval influences, got 2 albums by them too although I'm not quite so sure about the voice of the lead singer!)

I figured since I find myself listening to nothing else than Subway to Sally, Oomph!, Evanescence and HIM lately (apart from "Imagine" by John Lennon, which is the best song in the world, "Tribute" by Tenacious D and everything by David Garrett) I should better stock up a bit.
There is so, sooo much music I love, but in the end I always come back to German Alternative bands.
And since I have a really bad tinnitus (not a single silent second in about 4 weeks straight and most of the time I hear 3 different noises at once!) I listen to a LOT of music lately since else I'd go crazy. The noise is even louder than tv. You barely see me without headphones. If it doesn't get better with the things I do now (valerian all day and a special health pillow at night because my neck and back hurt like hell too) I'll have to see a doctor about it soon.

(* They rised steeply in prize so I quickly bought all that were available for the old price. Gruselkabinett is a highly acclaimed German series which covers stories of Gothic Romanticism like Poe, Lovecraft, Stoker, Robert E. Howard and even Jane Austin.)

MP3 got really expensive a few weeks ago, as did cds. Next up I'm lurking for special prices for the last Evanescence album that's still missing in my collection and more HIM, Oomph!, Faun, Subway to Sally, Nightwish (but only with Tarja) and Eisbrecher.

Today I recieved a package from mjkj with more food miniatures from the supermarket.
Giselda is sooo happy about the gigantic raspberry yoghurt!
There are several items that I didn't have yet and the offer ended months ago, so I was very surprised and very happy about this unexpected gift! Once again, thankiiiiiies!
