Okay! Bow making process! Because this was actually really fun to make to be honest.
First off, Dad straightened a bunch of coat hangers for me, I then bunched them together and shaped them into a recurve bow shape.
Then I glued some planks of balsa wood together, and using the templates I found, cut out, carved and sanded the 'hand grip'
Next job, create a channel in the back part of the grip for the coat hanger wires. that done, put the wires in there and then bung a LOAD of araldite in there, clamp it all together, and leave it for a few hours.
After this, it was time to add the 'FRONT' of the hand grip, more araldite, more clamping.
Finally time to beef out the 'limbs'. Blocks of balsa either side of the wires, and card on the back and front, lots of tape and glue later, I had a bow with limbs! For the end caps I shaped some balsa and put that at the ends before covering with the card.
Cover the whole thing with a ton of PVA, tissue paper, and a slightly thicker type of paper. Then I sprayed the whole thing silver!
Strung with a thinner black ribbon it looks more the part, and that's what you see in the photos from the shoot from the weekend. =)
