In the Media gallery there is a making-of now.
This time I try to turn a Pullip ball-jointed-doll into our dear Nareen Demetri.
I make pictures of everything I do and you can watch as the work progresses.
The story of this project: Some years ago I was contacted by a tiny company who offered to make painted plastic statues of my comic characters (action figures, basically). They showed me samples of what they did for other webcomics and their work was stunning. Alas I couldn't afford to pay for the minimum run (30 pieces, if I remember correctly) and didn't have enough readers for a realistic chance to sell them all. (I couldn't even get a dozen people interested in a calendar, so how to get 30 people to buy a more costly doll.) So I passed on the offer, but I always wished I had a doll of at least one Seeker.
When I started collecting Pullips I decided to try and make myself one.
The making-of is in the gallery because this way I can post the pictures just once and write explanations and reports for both the German and the English board.
(Btw, since this is a brand new picture album: Once this doll project is done there might be another making-of. I plan to post stuff about how a comic page is made, how I make colour artwork, how other real-life Seekers things are made etc. To keep things tidy there will only be one making-of in progress at all times though, so that the pictures can be viewed in the right order.)
I will keep you updated on new entries in this thread, and feel free to post comments about the project here!
This is where the making-of starts:
