Mir was happy to be rid of the strange company, but when she turned around she was faced with another new companion.
Red, snakelike eyes pierced through a black veil. "Good day to you," Elizabeth said courteously. "How pleasant to meet one of the ancients."

The vampire removed her veil with a thin smile. Something dark moved behind Mir's large black eyes, but she kept a smile on her face. "Countess Elizabeth. So we meet again. What a coincidence to find such old nobility as you here."
"You're too kind. Compared to you, I'm just a puppy."

"Tee hee hee!" Mir let out a high-pitched, false snigger. 'Is that witch calling me old? Hag!'
"I remember it like yesterday, how you and that boyfriend of yours tried to steal the Sacred Gem from my temple."
"Ho ho ho!" Elizabeth's shrill laugh wasn't any more sincere than Mir's, but she too kept a pleasant, conversational tone. "Ah, the adventures of the olden days. I remember you, too, coming after us like a hurricane with death in your eyes."

Mir's face grew darker. "You haven't happened to have seen my jewel, have you?"
This time Elizabeth's astonishment was sincere. "Oh, is that why you crossed the ocean? Someone succeeded in what I couldn't do?" Despite her best efforts, the vampire couldn't contain her amusement. One corner of her mouth rose slightly, as did her eyebrows. "Lady Mir, have you become negligent?"
"You ARE calling me old, aren't you?" hissed Mir.
"Such awful manners are beneath me." Elizabeth demurred.

Mir bit her lip in anger when someone tapped her on the shoulder from behind. Within a fraction of a second, her face became an empty mask again and she turned around.
Arion stood behind her. "Hey, Ms. Mir, sorry to interrupt, but can I have a second?"
"What is it this time, young man? I will not sing for you."

"No, it's about Pink-Chan. She wants to apologize for her rude behavior. Am I right, P-Chan?" He gave the girl a push on the back.
"I'm sorry," Pink-Chan said through gritted teeth before quickly adding, "I still don't want you to be part of the band, though."
"Rest assured that I had no intention to join." Mir said amicably.

"Aw, come on, Ms. Mir, are you sure about that?" Disappointment was written all over Arion's face.
Mir turned away. "I will not change my mind, so please stop asking."
"That is such a shame. Maybe you could at least pose for the cover of the single?"
The woman sighed.

"Well... helluu-oooh?" Brian tried to bring his presence back into Arion's attention. "Are we giving a concert here or not?"
Nareen felt a bit sorry for Mir, but was secretly happy that the necromancer herself didn't fit the new single cover perfectly.

Meanwhile, Pink-Chan sat a bit to the side and watched the party guests, especially Elizabeth and Mir. 'Undead. And monsters.' She was appalled. 'What den of evil did I stumble into?'

Libra showed up in the kitchen next to Tamara in a tiny puff of smoke. "Hey, Tamara." she said. "Are you done eating?"
"I was just about to have some cake. Why do you ask?"
"Your boss and the Countess are having an argument. Just saying."
"What?!" Tamara instantly rose to her feet and left the kitchen.

"Huzzah, more food for me!" Libra chuckled and took Tamara's place at the dinner table. "Can I have something to eat, please?"
"Uhm... sure, what would you like?" asked Giselda.
"A little bit of everything!" the faerie exclaimed happily.
